If you plan on collecting the early United States quarters from 1796 to 1838 this book is absolutely essential. The information on which varieties are Rarer than others put you a giant step ahead of the dealer that is unfamiliar or lacks the knowledge to know the differences. His unwillingness to do his homework could make for a terrific buying opportunity for you. We quote from a commentary in the book by Q. David Bowers. "The 1925 work, The Early Quarter Dollars of the United States, by Ard W. Browning, since its publication has been one of the most elusive and yet most valuable studies of a United States series." Early U.S. quarters, compared to their contemporary denominations, half dimes to half dollars are considerably scarcer to locate. It is not uncommon for a dealer to have an inventory of a dozen or even more of the Capped Bust half dollars dated from 1807 to 1836 and quite possibly the same for the half dime series, but, when it comes to the quarters, maybe one or two specimens at best and, usually in much lower grades. That is, unless he makes an all-out effort to locate these elusive and scarce numismatic treasures. The present-day edition of Browning's' book The Early Quarters of the United States has been extensively revised and contains contributions of some of today's leading numismatic scholars. This book will be a great addition to anyone's numismatic library, dealer or collector. Book Size: 9" H x 6" W - 184 Pages - Illustrated.
